Shareholders are advised that during the six month period ended 30 September 2021 (the “current period”) the Company concluded certain material transactions. During the current period, the earnings include a profit on disposal of businesses (51.19% of Kian Ann and ESG branches) amounting to approximately R38 million (35 cents per share) and a fair value gain of approximately R372 million (339 cents per share) on remeasurement of the joint venture investments (KKB roller manufacture operation and the MIH product distribution operations in both the USA and Canada) where holdings were increased to 100%. The above transactions are excluded from headline earnings in the current period. During the prior comparative period for the six months ended 30 September 2020 (the “prior comparative period”), the earnings and headline earnings included the result from the CNH Agricultural businesses. This amounted to 64 cents per share for both earnings and headline earnings. Shareholders are therefore advised that for the current period: • earnings per share (“EPS”) is expected to increase by between 222% to 232% (increase approximating 381.8 cents to 399.0 cents) to between 553.8 cents and 571.0 cents, off a base of 172 cents reported for the prior comparative period; and • headline earnings per share (“HEPS”) is expected to increase by between 5% to 15% (increase approximating 8.6 cents to 25.8 cents) to between 180.6 cents and 197.8 cents, off a base of 172 cents reported for the prior comparative period. The financial results on which this trading statement is based have not been reviewed or reported on by the Company’s external auditors.
