Overview

The Insimbi Group returned to profitability for the six months ended 31 August 2026. These results reflect
management's disciplined focus on cost control across the Group's core non-ferrous, ferrous and refractory
segments. Higher commodity prices also supported revenue and profitability. The benefits of a diversified and
cohesive Group, streamlined operations and disciplined cost management are producing more consistent
performance despite a complex and challenging trading environment.

Geopolitical disruptions, particularly the Middle East conflict since February 2026, have intensified global inflationary
pressures. In South Africa, successive oil-price shocks have driven petrol and diesel prices to record levels, while
continuing increases in utility costs, particularly electricity, continue to place pressure on operating margins.
Although corporate fiscal discipline can help mitigate these pressures, stronger economic growth will depend on
tangible progress in government's long-planned infrastructure programme. Converting those plans into coordinated,
executable projects would support investment and help address South Africa's persistent challenge of
unemployment.

Across the Group, ferrous volumes increased by 6.72% despite protracted uncertainty in the local steel sector. Non-
ferrous volumes remained steady amid volatile tariff developments and the delays in securing export permits. In
KwaZulu-Natal, operating conditions were stable but subdued, with volumes nearly 20% below both budget and the
prior year. Solid growth in the export division helped offset part of the decline in aluminium operations, while overall

revenue remained consistent. Seasonal winter weakness affected the local foundry and steel divisions, but margins
remained resilient and volumes were broadly in line with the prior corresponding period.

The relocation of the secondary aluminium smelter to a site adjacent to the Group's main Wadeville operations was
completed during the review period, with recommissioning expected in October 2026. The consolidated site is
expected to deliver a more efficient, less labour-intensive operating configuration and improve logistics coordination.
The refractory segment delivered strong results. Historically, its performance has served as a leading indicator of
infrastructure investment, with positive momentum often preceding upturns in the steel, foundry, ferrous and non-
ferrous markets by six to nine months. The current performance is therefore an encouraging signal, although the
timing and extent of any broader market recovery remain uncertain.

Skilled and experienced people remain central to Insimbi's performance. Our teams have demonstrated the Group's
resilience by adapting to unpredictable local and global market conditions while maintaining strong operational
delivery. Although the consolidation programme is advanced and already generating efficiency benefits through the
reduction of duplicated activities, improved logistics coordination, and a more streamlined operating structure,
sustaining this progress will require continued focus and disciplined execution to realise the full benefits of these
initiatives.

Looking ahead, we expect external conditions to remain volatile. Against this backdrop, the Group will continue to
improve operating efficiency, pursue opportunities in adjacent markets, and build on the stronger performance
achieved during the review period. These priorities are intended to reinforce resilience and support sustainable
growth through the next phase of the Group's development.
