APPOINTMENT OF LEAD INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR

In accordance with paragraph 3.59(a) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, the board of
directors of Thungela is pleased to announce that Mr. Benjamin Kodisang, currently serving as
an independent non-executive director, has been appointed as the lead independent director of
the Company, effective 23 May 2025.
Mr. Kodisang, who joined the Thungela Board in 2021, is the chairperson of the Remuneration
and Human Resources Committee and a member of both the Audit Committee and the
Nominations and Governance Committee.
The Board congratulates Mr. Kodisang on his new role and looks forward to his continued valuable
contributions to the Company.
