DISCLOSURE OF ACQUISITION OF SECURITIES IN PICK N PAY STORES LIMITED

In accordance with section 122(3)(b) of the Companies Act and section 3.83(b) of the
JSE Listings Requirements, shareholders are advised that Coronation Asset Management
(Pty) Ltd has acquired shares in Pick n Pay Stores Limited on behalf of its clients. Its
total beneficial interest has been increased by 0.56%, with its shareholding now
amounting to 5.18% of the total number of shares in issue.

Formal notification has been received from Coronation Asset Management (Pty) Ltd and
Pick n Pay Stores Limited has filed the required notice with the Takeover Regulation
Panel.
