RETIREMENT OF DIRECTOR – MR BRIAN VAN ROOYEN AND RESIGNATION OF NON-EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR – MR RUSTUM MOHAMED
The Board of Directors of Labat Africa Limited ("the Board") hereby announces the
retirement of Mr Brian Van Rooyen, effective 9 December 2025, after an extraordinary
career of nearly three decades of dedicated service, visionary leadership and unwavering
commitment to the Company.
Mr Van Rooyen, who co-founded Labat Africa Ltd in 1995 alongside Mr Victor Labat, has
been the driving force behind the Company's evolution from its early formation to its listing
on the JSE in 1996, and ultimately into the diversified, black-owned and black-managed
investment holdings group it is today. His leadership shaped the foundation upon which
Labat has grown, expanded, and served communities across South Africa.
This year marks 30 years of the Company's contribution to the communities and societies it
serves. As Labat embarks on a new repositioning strategy and transition in leadership, the
Board recognises that much of the Group's resilience, reputation, and strategic foundation
is the direct result of Mr Van Rooyen's inspiring leadership.
Over the past 30 years, his commitment to ethical conduct, innovation, transformation and
community upliftment has not only shaped the Company's identity but has also positively
impacted countless lives, stakeholders, employees and emerging entrepreneurs who have
benefitted from his mentorship and passion for empowerment. His legacy is woven into the
fabric of Labat's history and will continue to influence the Group's future trajectory.
The Board extends its deepest appreciation to Mr Van Rooyen for his tireless service,
exceptional leadership, and the vision with which he built and guided Labat Africa Ltd. His
contribution has been immeasurable and will be honoured as the Company continues to
pursue the strategic path he helped lay.
Mr Van Rooyen leaves behind a strong and capable organisation, positioned for
sustainable growth and continued transformation. The Board, management team and all
stakeholders wish him every success in his retirement and future endeavours.
RESIGNATION OF NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – MR RUSTUM MOHAMED
The Board further advises shareholders that Mr Rustom Mohammed has resigned as a Non-
Executive Director with effect from 9 December 2025. Mr Mohammed has served the
Company with diligence, commitment, and unwavering attention to governance,
contributing meaningfully to the Board and its committees. The Board extends its gratitude
for his dedicated service and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
